"I haven't enough time"

This was me. Struggling with those thoughts and craving to put colour down onto paper and finding the right time to do it. My creative headspace was tiny and small windows of painting opportunities were regularly squeezed out.

I used to relish the times with my son, as he grew up, when we created together. Making models, taking photographs for the wall at home, gardening, cooking, throwing colour onto paper and making christmas cards. These were the cherished moments of creation and connection.

At the age of 40 I managed to sort life out enough to get going and make quite a few paintings and was surprised and embarrassed when friends wanted to buy them for their homes.

Then life took over again, and another 15 years flew by until Lock Down 2020 when everything stopped still for myself and the world!

This was the time ! Time to breathe, notice and paint again. A different perspective and a new energy revealed itself and I'm thankful for that.

I'm inspired by lines of colour, mainly, and the way light falls onto every surface. These two things inspire me to pick up a brush, to mix, paint and see what happens. I like to paint from my head and I go straight onto a surface after making some marks to start. I use acrylic paint because I like to work fast and the colours dry quickly so that I can layer up.Then everything unfolds from there. I never really know where a start is going to take me. That's the exciting part of it all !
